Weather permitting, students take trips to Montessori Acres on a monthly basis. The animals are well socialized and are a part of the hands-on learning experience. Enrolled students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Elementary are able to participate in the educational outings.
Students groom, feed, exercise, and learn about the daily needs of the animals. A typical day may include preparing the food for the horses, collecting eggs from the chicken coop, brushing the mini horses, visiting the golden pheasants, walking the donkeys, and learning about the inner workings of the farm.
Montessori Acres provides a space for students to be actively involved in a farmstead. As our students learn and play, their experiential learning allows them to advocate for animals, appreciate farm to table methods, and protect their natural world.
