At Montessori Acres, children discover that some of life’s most meaningful lessons begin with their hands in the soil. Through our organic gardens, students experience the rhythm of the seasons while planting, propagating, weeding, mulching, and harvesting the fruits of their work.
As they tend the gardens, children explore the science of soil, plant life cycles, and the importance of healthy ecosystems. They discover how farm waste and animal bedding become nutrient-rich compost and learn to identify, cultivate, and appreciate native plants.
These purposeful experiences nurture curiosity, patience, responsibility, and a deep respect for natural open spaces in our world. Children begin to understand that caring for the earth is not simply something we teach—it is something we practice.
At Montessori Acres, learning takes root in the soil, grows through experience, and blossoms into a lifelong appreciation for our environment
