All locations offer programs as early as 16 months through 3rd grade. At this time, Suffolk is the only location that teaches up to 5th grade. We provide a strong foundation through opportunities for academic growth and discovery which are developed around each individual child. We look forward to meeting with you!

Can I drop by at any time for a school tour?

Yes, we do welcome walk-ins. However, due to high demand for our program, tours are available by appointment. Scheduling an appointment allows us to dedicate time to show you our facilities and address all your questions and concerns. We are happy to answer general inquiries over the phone or by email.

Who should attend the school tour?

It is essential for the primary decision-makers to visit the school. When possible, it is helpful for both parents to attend simultaneously with your child to ensure everyone feels confident in the decision.

Is there a waiting list?

Depending on the age group, Montessori Academy of Virginia may have waitlists. Waitlists help ensure fairness in enrollment and safeguard the quality of education we provide.

How far in advance may I submit an application?

Parents are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Early applications may help avoid long waitlists and allow more time for preparation.

What are the factors that determine my child’s placement?

The placement of your child depends on several factors including availability, age and development, teacher-student ratio, child readiness, to make each classroom well balanced. Our goal is to create equitable classrooms in terms of age, readiness, and gender of the children.

Is there a sibling discount?

Yes, MAV offers a discount for the second child. Siblings attending the same campus foster a sense of continuity, community, and mutual support, benefiting both the children and their family.

We invite prospective parents to begin your Montessori journey by exploring our website, where many of your initial questions will be answered. Once familiar with our program, we encourage you to schedule a tour of our facility. This visit offers a unique opportunity to observe our classrooms in action and experience the purposeful atmosphere of the Montessori approach. Following your tour, you will receive an Initial Student Application package. We encourage you to complete and return the forms to our office as soon as possible.

Admission decisions are made after careful consideration of several factors, including:

Current class availability
Age and gender balance
Ethnic and cultural diversity
School transcripts (if applicable)
Overall impressions from your visit

The campus Director will notify you regarding your child’s application status as soon as possible.
