Application and Admission

Investing in Your Child’s Brightest Future, Commitment to Quality and Excellence

We invite prospective families to begin their Montessori journey by exploring our website and discovering the philosophy, purpose, and care that shape our learning community. Once you feel aligned with our mission, we encourage you to schedule a campus tour. This experience allows you to step into our classrooms, observe engaged learners at work, and feel the calm, intentional rhythm of an authentic Montessori environment. Following your visit, you will receive an Initial Student Application package, marking the first step toward joining our community.

Students receive a personalized Montessori education that fosters curiosity, confidence, and academic excellence. Small class sizes and close teacher-student relationships allow students to thrive at their own pace. Graduates leave prepared, self-assured, and often excel above grade level in traditional schools; let us help your child reach their full aptitude.

Admission decisions are made after careful consideration of several factors, including:

  • Current class availability
  • Age and gender balance
  • Ethnic and cultural diversity
  • School transcripts (if applicable)
  • Overall impressions from your visit

Please note: The campus Director will notify you regarding your child’s application status as soon as possible. We do not provide application updates or status inquiries over the phone; the school will contact you after thorough review of the application.

Admissions FAQ

Can I drop by at any time for a school tour?

Yes, we do welcome walk-ins. However, due to high demand for our program, tours are available by appointment. Scheduling an appointment allows us to dedicate time to show you our facilities and address all your questions and concerns. We are happy to answer general inquiries over the phone or by email.

Who should attend the school tour?

It is essential for the primary decision-makers to visit the school. When possible, it is helpful for both parents to attend simultaneously with your child to ensure everyone feels confident in the decision.

Is there a waiting list?

Depending on the age group, Montessori Academy of Virginia may have waitlists. Waitlists help ensure fairness in enrollment and safeguard the quality of education we provide.

How far in advance may I submit an application?

Parents are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Early applications may help avoid long waitlists and allow more time for preparation.

What are the factors that determine my child’s placement?

The placement of your child depends on several factors including availability, age and development, teacher-student ratio, child readiness, to make each classroom well balanced. Our goal is to create equitable classrooms in terms of age, readiness, and gender of the children.

Is there a sibling discount?

Yes, MAV offers a discount for the second child. Siblings attending the same campus foster a sense of continuity, community, and mutual support, benefiting both the children and their family.
